Monday will bring one more gorgeous but cooler than average day to Ohio Valley. Actually, today will likely be the best day of the week. Rain chances will begin to ramp up tonight and we will probably deal with rain at times through the remainder of the week.

Low pressure over the Plains will move east tonight and lift a warm front through Ohio Valley on Tuesday. The models are still in disagreement with the timing of the front and this results in some questions regarding precipitation type as moisture moves in over the region.

For now, temperatures look to remain warm enough to support rain but the possibility of a brief period of freezing rain remains a possibility and something we need to keep an eye on. This morning’s odds for freezing rain here in the Ohio Valley look pretty low but I can’t rule it completely out either.

Temperatures will warm quickly Tuesday morning, however, and all precipitation should fall as rain. Rain will be the order of the day Tuesday and continue into at least the first part of Wednesday.

Otherwise, Tuesday’s temperatures will be slightly cooler with the clouds and rain showers with afternoon highs in the Ohio Valley peaking in the low 50s.

The associated cold front will cross Tuesday night and stall out near the region. A series of weak disturbances will ride along the boundary Wednesday and Thursday causing additional rain across Ohio Valley. Today’s models keep the frontal boundary to our north, so we should remain on the warm side with temperatures near 60 degrees both Wednesday and Thursday.

RAIN TOTALS This morning’s modeling remains nearly the same as yesterday’s projecting an inch to an inch and a half total rainfall through Friday. Since this will be spread out over the remainder of the work week, flooding should not be an issue.

Our cold front finally east of the region Thursday night and cooler air will filter in for Friday and we will begin to dry out Friday afternoon. Cool but dry conditions will settle in for the Easter Weekend.
